Cave "Große Scheuer" on the Rosenstein near Heubach
The Rosenstein is a Ausliegerberg on Albtrauf the Ostalb and the most prominent part of the Albtraufs east of the Dreikaiserberge. At the top eaves of the Rosenstein are some caves. Among them are the two caves "Große Scheuer" and "Haus" in the immediate vicinity. These caves are located at the northernmost point of the Albtrauf of the Rosenstein.

In today's post on this blog, the Great Scouring Cave is the topic. The following post is then about the karst cave house.

The Great Scourer is the largest and most famous of the caves of the Rosenstein. It is 44 meters long and up to 7 meters high. It has three large openings that illuminate the entire cave. A flashlight is thus not required for this cave. The trail from Lautern up to the Rosenstein runs through the cave.
The cave is located in the rocks of the White Jurassic Delta. The Great Scouring and the west adjacent Cave "House" were once part of a single large cave. The intermediate part of the cave between the Great Barrier and the house is now located as a stone debris on the slope of the Rosenstein.
