Anyone who feels the breath of history in old walls will also feel at home here. The Burgrest is not oversized, but it is a nice place for a short break. I particularly like the idyllic stone stairs that lead from the hiking path up to the castle gate.

If you continue on the hiking trail to the barbecue area, you will find the entrance to a small through cave via a small path, which you are welcome to pass through. Beyond this, however, caution is advised, because at the edge of the narrow meadow under the castle wall, it goes steeply downhill.

Legend of the ruins of Kallenberg: While one of the Knights of Kallenberg was on a cruise, his daughter fell in love with the handsome miners of the nearby Bronner Mühle. When the returned Kallenberger found out about this, he burned with anger and expelled his daughter. The next day the noble lady was found drowned in the rake of the mill. The Kallenberger became gloomy and from then on lived completely withdrawn. It is said that at night you can see him wandering around the castle ruins as a black figure. As a fairy godmother, his daughter is said to drive away the fog for lonely hikers in a white, flowing robe in the valley.
