Beautiful view to the east over the Zellertal and Worms to the Odenwald. The eagle arch gives the whole thing a nice frame. Display boards explain the history of the arch, which sits enthroned on the volcanic rock of Donnersberg.

The Eagle Arch is a steel triumphal arch on the Moltkefelsen, 545 meters above sea level, on the east flank of the Donnersberg. On a forest path southwest of Dannenfels, a 12.50 meter long steel arch was stretched about 30 meters above the valley floor between two rocky peaks of the Moltkefelsen. The eagle arch is an important testimony to the art-historical development of the monument in the German Empire and the early tourist development of the Donnersberg. The arch is a "product of technology, an iron construction originally intended for bridge building, alienated to a "monument"... "in the dimension of the aesthetic" (Schindlmayr 1982, p. 159). "The harmonious interplay of technology, art and scenic beauty is what makes it so special." (Schindlmayr 1982, p. 159).
