The town hall stands symmetrically opposite the parish church. The foundation stone was laid in 1716. The first construction phase was completed in 1721 according to the design by Johann Michael Ludwig Rohrer. In 1750 Peter Ernst Rohrer built a one-story annex on the back of the building, which was used as a prison. The five-axis gable front faces the square between the church and town hall. The ground floor was originally an open hall and is accessible from all sides through arcades that are now bricked up. Today there is an old, still functioning clockwork of the city church of St. Alexander.

In 1899 a new town hall extension was built. Today, in the town hall, in addition to the official offices of the administration and the mayor, there is the meeting room of the municipal council, the windows of which were made in 1962/63 according to designs by Georg Meistermann (1911 to 1990).

In front of the town hall is the Alexiusbrunnen, which was dedicated to Saint Alexius von Edessa in 1739 to protect against earthquakes, since 1723 and 1728 earthquakes destroyed parts of Rastatt.
