Rifugio Menaggio, located at 1383 m, offers unique views of Lake Como. It is the ideal base for climbing Monte Grona, with via ferratas or challenging trails. It is a panoramic and welcoming point for every hiker, it is managed by the CAI and offers refreshments and overnight stays in the summer season.

If you are good on foot, you should not miss the path over the Rifugio Menaggio on the Monte Grona. The scenic views over Lake Como and the surrounding mountains are so unique that you will not forget them so quickly.

The Menaggio Hut (Italian: Rifugio Menaggio) is located on the slopes of Monte Grona in the Ceneri Group and offers a fantastic view of Lake Como and the snow-capped peaks of the Valais Alps. Easy and moderately difficult hikes can be undertaken from the hut.

The Menaggio Hut can also be described as a balcony over Lake Como. Hardly any other shelter is so easy to reach and offers such a magnificent view and tour opportunities in the region. The hut offers 25 beds and 40 seats in the hut and on the beautiful sun terrace.
In the summer months, you should make sure that there are still places to sleep in the hut, because the Menaggio hut is a popular destination, especially on weekends.

From the Rifugio Menaggio you have an unforgettable view of Lake Como and, a little further, Lake Lugano. But you definitely need sure-footedness if you want to take the Via Direttissima. We didn't have hiking boots and therefore took a different path to be on the safe side.

The Menaggio refuge rises at 1383 m a.s.l. on the eastern side of the rocky peaks of Mount Grona.
View of the Lecco branch and the central part of Lake Como. It is an excellent starting point for excursions to Grona and Bregagno.
For the Grona you can choose between the via ferrata, the normal route or the direct route, rather demanding routes although always on rocks. The ascent to Mount Bregagno, although longer, does not present particular difficulties.

Beautiful view. When we were there – on a weekday – the kitchen was closed, so there was no lunch available, but you could still get drinks and snacks.
