The Wekeromse Zand is not only beautiful, it is also unique, because it is one of the few places where actively drifting sand still occurs. Due to the extreme living conditions, drifting sand has its own animal and plant population. You will find rare bird species there, such as the woodlark and the nightjar. Insects such as the antlion, snowjumper and sand earworm also feel completely at home on the Wekeromse Zand.

Some of the trails on the shifting sands are definitely plowing and kneading but it's more than worth it. The environment is so beautiful.

🇳🇱The Het Wekeromse Zand nature reserve is a 500 hectare nature reserve in the southwest of the small town of Wekerom🧭.
The area consists of forests, heathland, farmland and inland dunes with drifting sand.
The inland dunes are unique because active inland dunes are almost non-existent in northwestern Europe.

💜Wonderful photo opportunities, especially from July to September, when the heather is in bloom so beautifully 💜💜💜🎨📸.
