The Salober, also Zwölferkopf, is a 1293 m high peak on the Bavarian-Tyrol border near Pfronten and Vils. The less pronounced summit is the highest point of the Falkensteinkamm on the northern edge of the Allgäu Alps. It is located south-west of Weißensee in the municipality of Füssen and north-west of the town of Vils. The summit is listed as Salober in the Bavarian Official Topographical Map (ATK25). The associated Saloberalpe is located to the east on the Austrian side. In the Austrian map (ÖK50) this mountain is located as Zwölferkopf; However, the Bavarian map bears this name 500 meters to the west at point 1284. On the other hand, older Austrian maps show the name Salober at point 1177, 1000 meters to the west, and this mountain as Zirmgrat. The ridge originally formed the border of the Vils dominion, but for a long time the Saloberalpe belonged to the town of Füssen as a foothills. The name Saluber, older Zaluber, is probably related to the Latin salūber, -ris (m.) 'healthy, cheap, beautiful' (also scenic).

The name Zwölfer probably refers to the places Roßmoos or Wiedmar, for which it indicates noon. To the west is the Einerkopf (1280 m), whose position suggests that this mountain is the actual Zwölferkopf. The summit can easily be climbed as a detour from the path from the Falkenstein ruins to the Alatsee. This trail is part of the Via Alpina (Trieste–Monaco, Violet Trail Slovenia–Vorarlberg, stage A63 Füssen–Pfronten). Access is also possible from Vils via the Saloberalm or on the forest path near Rossmoos/Benken from the north.
