The promising Watzmannhaus serves as a base for climbing the Watzmann. The hut is open from May to October. There are 200 beds in the dormitory and shared rooms. Be sure to reserve your place to sleep in advance.

The Watzmannhaus at a glance
Opening:
The Watzmannhaus is open from May 20th to October 10th in 2021.

The winter room is closed until further notice to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic from spreading further!

Reservations for 2021 can be conveniently made online here from December 15th, 2020!

Group reservations of 15 people or more are not possible online. For this we ask you to send an email!

Sleeping places:
10 mattress dormitories (2 x 7 places, 4 x 8 places, 1 x 12 places, 1 x 14 places, 1 x 26 places, 1 x 32 places); 60 beds in rooms (5 two-bed, 5 four-bed, 5 six-bed; winter room with 10 beds; total: 200 beds

Equipment: drying room, group room (35 people), washrooms / WC women / men, open winter room
Activities: hiking - climbing - via ferrata - ski tours

Great tour, exhausting, but easy to master if you are in good physical condition. Fantastic view from the house over the mountains, absolutely worthwhile! Food very tasty ... water can be refilled.

Largest German Alpine Club hut with 200 overnight beds. Best starting point for the Watzmann crossing (the long tour is shortened by around 1200 meters of ascent and around 3 hours). Dinner is served from 6-7:30 p.m., so if you are staying overnight, be there on time.

We actually wanted to go up the bobsleigh track from Königsssee in the direction of the Watzmannhaus. Was closed due to previous heavy rainfall.
So a small detour via Hammerstiel and Grünsteinhütte.
And the rain couldn't stop us either. Wonderful tour and very good companions

First overnight stay in the Watzmannhaus. Overnight guests are even given blankets and pillows. We had our down sleeping bags with us for free.

The Watzmannhaus is a good stopover when crossing the Watzmann at 1930 m.
But also for mountain hikers who are not free from giddiness it is an attractive destination with a great view. I recommend the ascent from the Wimbachtal bridge in Ramsau (4 hours, 7 km, 1285 m) or the longer variant from Schönau am Königssee (4 hours, 8.3 km, 1324 m). On both tours there is the possibility to take a short rest on the way on nice alpine pastures or huts.
The Watzmannhaus opens at the end of May (inquire in advance) and is usually open until September.

Also suitable for children. Already have three-year-old at the Watzmannhaus rumspringen seen but for the offspring in the school age, it should be feasible.
