      The stone pyramid is a monument to the milestone in the history of Bavarian land surveying. It was built in 1802 in order to be able to measure the baseline at any time. The spire of the north tower of the Munich Frauenkirche (zero point of Bavarian land surveying), the two pyramids in Unterföhring and Aufkirchen (the ends of the base line) and the spire of the parish church of St. Johann Baptist in Aufkirchen lie on the same straight line. The length of the base was determined to be 21,653.80 m. The French engineering geographer Colonel Charles Rigobert Marie Bonne (1771-1839) made only less than 1m from today's satellite-based measurement technology.
