The Hohe Matze, also called Hohe Mätze, is an 813 meter high mountain in the southern part of the Fichtelgebirge between Nagel and Tröstau. The summit consists of a pile of oval-shaped rocks. The slope is forested and can be walked on hiking trails.

A great viewpoint at 813m - with summit cross and book! Definitely enjoy the view before going back into the woods.
Once upon a time, Schloss Karlstein was said to have stood on the Hohen Matze, which can not be documented. The name, still "mazen" in 1393, later "meze" and "mätze", means Weideberg.
