SECRET TIP ;) - At the end of the stairs, you reach a beautiful waterfall and a small lake that goes with it. The lake continues to flow and then becomes the Risco Waterfall. This spot is suitable for swimming. It is much less crowded than the other two falls.

Here it is really heavenly quiet and beautiful, especially because not the masses of hikers coming from the busloads come to the 25 sources. But the way is a small challenge and should only be done with sturdy hiking boots.

I even did the tour for this mountain lake! It is hidden above the Risco waterfall. It is also not easy to reach, as the route from the Levada do Alecrim and/or from the Rabacal forester's lodge resembles a climb and is sometimes dangerous in wet weather (the ground had broken away).
Unfortunately it was too cold to swim... ;-)

Very nice, cold mountain lake. When I visited, there was an outdoor pool atmosphere, although not quite as loud. Lots of young locals lounging in bathing suits on the round and flat stones. Few tourists.
Going all the way forward you can see the lower vantage point of Risco Fall. Attention, no backup.

This pretty little lake is fed by a waterfall that plunges over impressively shaped basalt rock. The detour is only 500m away from the main path and is definitely worth it. The path is steep like many others and just as well developed

Lagoa do Vento is a picturesque mountain lake located at the end of the PR 6.3 – Vereda da Lagoa do Vento hiking trail. This path leads hikers through a breathtaking landscape of laurel forest and raised bog vegetation down to an impressive waterfall that cascades over 80 meters into a clear, turquoise pool.

Ice cold, the bath at Risco or at the 25 Fontes is better. However, the number of spectators there is guaranteed to be higher.

The path (there and back) to the waterfall from the Levada do Alecrim is steep, but the view at the waterfall is worth the descent and the climb back. The waterfall is beautiful. In the lake at the waterfall there are trout swimming. Very suitable place to take a break.

A small lake with a high waterfall. Compared to the typical stretches on the hiking trail, it is really quiet. As everywhere, there are lots of steps. The path there is a bit more difficult to walk in places, but doable

This week there was a real rave party going on. We have not descended. We heard the techno beats and noise of the young people all the way up to the main path. Below you could see the parasols and the youth partying. I hope they bring their trash back up too.

Absolutely worth it! The path was blocked off with three roadblocks due to construction work, but it was passable 🤫. So we were alone at the waterfall for a long time and could go into the water undisturbed. The place is in the shade for a long time though. We stayed here longer. It wasn't until 2 p.m. that the entire waterfall was bathed in sun. This seems to be well known, because at this time of day it suddenly became full.
