Bavaria (the Latinized expression for Bavaria) is the female symbolic figure and secular patroness of Bavaria and appears as a personified allegory for the state structure of Bavaria in various forms and manifestations. She thus represents the secular counterpart to Mary as the religious Patrona Bavariae.

In the visual arts, the colossal bronze statue in Munich can be considered the best-known and at the same time the most monumental representation of Bavaria. It was built on behalf of King Ludwig I (1786–1868) between 1843 and 1850 and stands in structural unity with the Hall of Fame on the edge of the slope above the Theresienwiese.
After the Baroque colossal statues of the 17th century, it is the first example of its kind from the 19th century and the first colossal statue since ancient times to be made entirely of cast bronze. It was and is a technical masterpiece.

You can get a good overview of the Wiesn from the Bavaria, which stands on the edge of the slope along the Theresienwiese.
The bronze statue of Bavaria is 18.50 meters high and weighs around 87 tons. The height of the stone base on which it was erected is around 9 meters.

But the figure of Bavaria cast in Munich, designed by Ludwig Schwanthaler, is considered the first colossal sculpture of modern times and is one of the most important casting achievements of the 19th century. Even before it was erected in 1850, the Hall of Fame was created in its background. A portico made of 48 Doric columns, according to King Ludwig I's idea of a "patriotic monument" like the Walhalla near Regensburg and the Hall of Liberation in Kelheim, equipped with marble busts of "distinguished Bavarians". So definitely a “place of pilgrimage” for Bavaria, even outside of the Oktoberfest season.
However, Karl Valentin, the great Munich comedian and (real) lateral thinker, said about Bavaria, which is seen as a symbol of Bavaria's "strength": "Actually, a large beer barrel would have been appropriate, because the symbol of Bavaria's strength is beer drinking, which takes place every year Oktoberfest and the Salvator era proves."
