The beautiful half-timbered building was built in 1712-13 as the seat of the "forest lords", who managed the forest villages from here from 1461 to 1830.
It was extensively renovated in 1924 and 1974-75.
Since 1996 it has been privately owned and unfortunately cannot be visited.

The Hamburg Council had the half-timbered building built in 1712-13 as the seat of the "Forest Lords", who managed the forest villages from here from 1461-1830. Council members and later the Senate also used the house as a holiday home.
It was thoroughly renovated in 1924, converted into an administration building in 1939, 1974-75 by the city of Hamburg and the Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S. renovated again and used by them.

It has been privately owned since 1996.
