    Lake Piburg is the symbol of Oetz and one of the oldest nature reserves in Tyrol. A beautiful and easy circular route leads around the absolutely marvelous lake.

    Bathing facilities are available in the bathing area with designated swimming area. In summer, it heats the lake up to 24 degrees.

        You can walk to the pool and go swimming or cool off with flat gravel at this point after the ascent

          Super nice and small hike that you can combine with swimming or pedal boating. Perfect for families. But the circumnavigation of the lake is not recommended with the KINDERWAGEN or the like.

                  The Piburger See is a real natural jewel among the lakes of Tyrol. He is considered the warmest bathing lake in Tyrol. Info: swimming is only allowed in the bathhouse.

                      Can a mountain lake be any more beautiful? Anyone who wants to describe Lake Piburger will sooner or later end up with the word “idyllic”. Nestled in a depression above Oetz, the clear green water reflects the surrounding forests and the mighty Acherkogel. Nature lovers, hikers and swimmers recharge their batteries in this place of power. Because you have to look after such a treasure, Lake Piburger See is one of the oldest nature reserves in Tyrol.

                      Signposted hiking trails from various starting points lead to Lake Piburg, for example from the Oetz center or from the parking lot in Piburg. A walk around the lake is a highlight for the whole family: While the narrow, partly rooty and rocky path on the eastern bank fuels the spirit of adventure, the slightly wider path on the western bank is even stroller-friendly. Refreshingly cool, earthy forest air and exciting geological formations such as coarse block heaps accompany every step. Because things weren't always as peaceful here as Lake Piburg is today, splashing about in the crystal rock. Originally, the lake's depression was a valley parallel to the Ötztal. After the last ice age, a massive landslide blocked its southeastern end and covered the entire valley floor. This allowed a lake to be dammed up, which has long been considered a landmark of Oetz.

                      During our vacation we walked around this beautiful lake on June 21st, 2011. A real highlight that I can clearly recommend.
