The Duchy of Berg, the County of Sayn and the Electorate of Cologne used to meet at the Dreiherrenstein. Today the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia meet with the Rhein-Sieg district and Rhineland-Palatinate with the districts of Altenkirchen and Neuwied. At this point, the town of Hennef in the northwest, the municipality of Eitorf in the northeast, the parish of Kircheib in the southeast and the parish of Buchholz in the southwest border each other.

According to a map from 1607, there were three stones at this point, pointing to the adjacent territories of the sovereigns of the Duchy of Berg, the County of Sayn and the Electorate of Cologne. Today, this stone separates the federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia as well as the Reg.bez. Cologne and Koblenz as well as the Altenkirchen, Neuwied and Rhein-Sieg districts, but also the communities of Buchholz (Asbach), Eitorf and Hennef. The stone and the facility in which it is located was erected in 1989 by the Eitorf local history association and the Uckerath community and the respective communities.
