The castle ruins tower high above the town of Pommelsbrunn. A trip to the vantage point is definitely worth it, because the view of the town and the Nuremberg region is simply fantastic.

Old legend about Lichtenstein and Lichteneck: The Houbirg opposite on a rugged mountain was the Lichtenstein Castle and, further up in the valley, the Lichteneck Castle. It is said that the owners of both castles gave themselves a sign when merchants came down in the valley with their goods on the road that leads from Nuremberg to Bohemia, and then robbed them. Both castles were finally broken by the Nuremberg people; the last Lichtensteiner escaped to Bohemia and there became the lord of the house of Lichtenstein.

a cute little ruin that looks more like a small charming stone house with a great view. Beyond that in the forest there was probably more building structures. A wonderful place!
