"The Marian Column in Bad Breisig, a work by the sculptor Georg Gehring from 1957, stands on the slope below the "Eifeldorf" leisure center.
Below the Marian column is the Mariensprudel Bad Breisig, the largest thermal spring in Breisig, drilled by Johann Martin Schuh in 1927. After severe earthquakes, it dried up during the Second World War. In the event of a successful redevelopment of the source, Gertrud Schuh, the owner's wife, promised to have a statue of the Virgin Mary erected. When it was finally possible to reactivate the Mariensprudel in 1952, his son Willy Schuh fulfilled the vow made by his mother, who had died in the meantime, and had the Madonna, who is holding a carbon dioxide bowl in her hand, made of black Eifel basalt."
