The Amrumbank in Emden's Ratsdelft

The Amrumbank lightship was built in 1915 at the Jos. L. Meyer shipyard in Papenburg

and has been in service as a floating lighthouse at several locations in the North Sea since 1917.

The inscription "German Bight" on both sides of the ship indicates its last berth as an active lightship.

Twelve crew members served on board in fortnightly rotation.

After its decommissioning on October 19, it was purchased, renovated, and partially rebuilt by the "Museum Lightship Working Group, Emden."

Since August 2, 1984, the Amrumbank has been moored in Emden's Ratsdelft—right in the city center—and is open to the public.
