Innsbruck City Tower - Distinctive 15th-century watchtower
Look out over Innsbruck's rooftops like the watchmen of the Middle Ages did. For almost 450 years, they kept watch from the City Tower, warning citizens of fire and other dangers. The lower floors served as a prison. Visitors climb 133 steps to the 31-meter-high viewing platform. And not only can you see medieval alleyways, but also the Bergisel, Patscherkofel, the Inn, and the Nordkette mountains.

Innsbruck City Tower
Look out over Innsbruck's rooftops like the watchmen of the Middle Ages did. For almost 450 years, they kept watch from the City Tower, warning citizens of fire and other dangers. Landmark of the Old Town
The City Tower is a good 50 years older than the Golden Roof, was completed in 1450, and is adjacent to the old Town Hall. While it doesn't seem huge compared to modern buildings, its 51-meter height was impressive in 1450 and a proud symbol of the self-confidence of the people of Innsbruck. Incidentally, the City Tower only received its onion dome a hundred years after its completion. It rises imposingly amidst the medieval houses of the Old Town. A good vantage point for orientation and to get to know Innsbruck from a romantic perspective.

The City Tower was established between 1442 and 1450 as Guildhall Tower, and topped 100 years later with a cupola. 148 steps allow the way up to a wonderful view of the city and the mountain panorama.
