In Hennigsdorf, the term "Blue Wonder" is probably used a little too often 😁. After the Hennigsdorf Technology Park had already been given this name, the city administration also refers to the new bridge over the Havel as a Blue Wonder on its website (see link below).
In 2021, the contract for the replacement construction of the Hennigsdorf road bridge was awarded to Stahlbau Magdeburg GmbH. The new bridge became necessary because the stability of the superstructure of the old bridge from 1961/62 can no longer be guaranteed due to damage caused by stress corrosion cracking.
The new steel superstructure, which will initially serve as a temporary bridge and later as an existing structure, is already in place on the fairground on Ruppiner Strasse. For this purpose, the new bridge will be built parallel to the old one as a temporary bridge and will be pivoted into this position after the old bridge has been demolished. Because of its blue color, the replacement bridge is also called the "New Blue Wonder of Hennigsdorf".
