The current town hall was designed in 1869 after the demolition of the Monastery of the Clarissa Nuns of San José, which was in serious disrepair. Although construction was planned for two and a half years, it ultimately took 25 years because the works were halted due to a lack of economic resources and were only completed in 1895, in neoclassical style. In this building, the tympanum stands out, with reliefs symbolizing the city's coat of arms, among representations of Agriculture, Justice, History and Education. The square in front of it is one of the most popular in the city and hosts various events and fairs.
