The former airfield Gatow, today's General Steinhoff barracks, is located in Berlin's Spandau district. The flight operations were discontinued as of June 30, 1994. Today, the Military History Museum of the Bundeswehr is located on part of the remaining area - Berlin Gatow Air Base (formerly: Luftwaffenmuseum der Bundeswehr) as well as some Bundeswehr departments, including the German Armed Forces. a. the command Luftwaffe. Until the territorial reform in 2003, the former airfield was located in the district of Gatow. Since 2003, a large part of the area belongs to the district Kladow.

Nice exhibition with many exhibits. Large outdoor area.

Queen Elizabeth II landed at the former military airport of the British occupying power when she paid a visit to the divided city. The airport was closed to civilians. Today the Military History Museum of the Bundeswehr is housed here. A detour is worthwhile.
