ハイキング
The Niederburg is next to the Oberburg one of two castle ruins in Manderscheid. It dates from the 12th century and is much better preserved than the upper castle, although it was destroyed by the French in the 17th century. The castle is surrounded on three sides by the river Lieser and from above you have a beautiful view over the Lieser.

Sightseeing until 17:00 clock possible and worthwhile. Admission z. Zt. (Sept. 2018) 3, - €. Surefootedness is required during the visit. There are a few explanatory panels that help you to understand the facts. Ascent to the tower possible, torches are recommended on hazy days as there is no lighting in the tower.
