ハイキング
A visit to the Danakil Tropical House, on the EGA site of the BUGA Erfurt, must be booked separately. The cost is 1 euro and a time slot (approx. 40 minutes) for the visit must be booked in advance. The visit is highly recommended, especially for children, and offers informative knowledge about water in the desert and many different animals (snakes, turtles, meerkats, mice, fish, lizards, butterflies) presented very clearly during the tour.

This is where the flagship project of BUGA 2021 is being built: Danakil.
The name comes from the Danakil Desert in Ethiopia. It is one of the most inhumane regions in the world.
Danakil in egapark consists of a desert house and a jungle house, which are connected to each other. Water plays the central role in both. Plants and animals that have adapted to the respective extreme conditions will move into the 83 meter long and 35 meter wide building. BUGA Erfurt 2021 is scheduled to open on April 23, 2021.
