Ice-age sand dune, which looks very surprising in this forest. Definitely worth a little trip. Beach and desert feeling in the forest!

A great piece of land with some trail options. Definitely worth experiencing! Even without much skill on the MTB you can test around here, but there is always something for advanced people too :)

Sand dunes in the Nuremberg Reichswald near Altdorf - rock of the year 2016
Bavaria's representative of the rock of 2016 are the up to 40-meter-high sand dunes in Nuremberg's Reichswald near Altdorf. The sand dunes are part of one of the largest dune fields in Bavaria and form an impressive landscape with sparse pine forests, former sand pits and open sandy areas. Rare animals, plants and lichens have adapted to this dry extreme location. On the Fränkische Dünenweg the area can be easily wander through or explore by bike.
