Enjoy views of the Thuringian Forest/biosphere reserve and Schleusingen from the Maiburg.
On the south side of the Thuringian Forest between Vessertal and the Auengrund lies the small village of Hinternah.
A small but idyllic circular hiking trail up to Maiburg begins and ends here.
The route is very short at around 3.5 km and is therefore more suitable for an afternoon walk than a real hiking tour.
Nevertheless, the area around Hinternah does not have to hold back.
You leave the town across the extensive fields up to the edge of the forest and follow the path to a resting bench.
From here you have a wonderful view towards Mühlberg, the Silbacher Kuppe, the Stutenhaus, the Adlersberg, Schleusingen and down into the Schleusetal.
Especially at the beginning of autumn, when the days are getting shorter and the sun is a little lower than in the warm midsummer, there are some moments early in the morning or in the evening when the whole valley is covered in a kind of golden veil.
