The bridge is the most painful wound in Köpenick's transport system. When the bridge was completely closed to traffic, there was the most beautiful traffic chaos in the small town. Pedestrians and cyclists could cross the bridge at any time. All Köpenickers will breathe a sigh of relief when this bridge is finally finished.
The western part of the bridge has been open to traffic again at walking pace since October 2019, which brings a great deal of relief to city traffic in Köpenick.
Next to the bridge is the ice cream parlor Evelin's, which was rebuilt after a fire.

Currently, the bridge is not passable, but can be crossed by pedestrians. Current construction includes lowering and setting to a more stable bearing design. The complete completion is planned for 2021.
