The brewery was founded in 1878 by Josef Diebels in Issum on the Lower Rhine.
The amber-colored treasure of the Lower Rhine
The name "Alt" refers to the traditional brewing method.
In a time before modern refrigeration, top-fermenting yeast was used almost everywhere in Germany.
It converts malt sugar into alcohol at 15-20 degrees Celsius, making it possible to brew even at higher ambient temperatures.
Alt has a refreshingly bitter, hoppy flavor that develops best at a temperature between five and eight degrees 🍻.
