The Porte de Paris is an impressive Arc de Triomphe in Lille, France, built between 1685 and 1692 to celebrate the conquest of the city by Louis XIV in 1667. The building is built in the classical style and is decorated with sculptures of Hercules and Mars, symbols of strength and war. The Porte de Paris replaced the old Porte des Malades, which had been part of the city walls since the Middle Ages. It has been classified as a historical monument since 1875.
