With the patronage of "John the Baptist," this parish has chosen a saint who is considered a forerunner of Jesus Christ. In Christian theology, he is the voice of one crying in the wilderness prophesied in the Old Testament book of Isaiah: "A voice calls out: 'In the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God!'"
