St. Mary's Church in Sörup, located in the center of the town, was built at the end of the 12th century and is therefore the oldest building in Sörup. It is assumed that the craftsmen had previously worked on the construction of Schleswig Cathedral. The church is built from carefully hewn granite blocks and has a rich interior. It is considered one of the most important churches in the region and was the model for numerous other church buildings in Angeln.
