This year, we decided to take the ferry on our Bernburg tour. It saves a lot of time and offers a unique view of the castle. Minimal time investment for only one euro! Highly recommended!

The old St. Peter's Church in Zernitz was first mentioned in 1206. It is assumed that Zernitz was located on the site of a former brickworks. The church stood on the present-day cemetery. After the construction of the new church on its current site, the old Zernitz church was used as a mortuary and later given to Captain Anton von Krosigk as a burial site. After the destruction of Gröna toward the end of the Thirty Years' War, village life centered around the castle and the farmstead in the village, where the present church was built with the laying of the foundation stone in 1702.
