The Elbuferförderverein Schönebeck e.V. organized the International Stone Sculptor's Symposium in Schönebeck (Elbe) in 2002. Eight works of art were created as a result. One sculpture stands in the spa gardens of Bad Salzelmen, while all the others are located on the banks of the Elbe and had to prove their durability during the flood disaster that occurred in August of the same year.

Schönebeck. Another record that Saxony-Anhalt can claim stands in Schönebeck. Fifty meters from the Elbe River, the warehouses extend along Salzblumenplatz. At 133 meters, they form the longest still inhabited half-timbered ensemble in Germany and Europe. The warehouses formerly served as salt storage sheds for the Royal Prussian Saltworks. The building was constructed in 1878. Today, the ensemble consists of a total of 25 condominiums in the terraced house style.
