St. Nicolai Church in Pulsnitz. Info: First mentioned in 1473, St. Nicolai Church is the main church in Pulsnitz. The exterior still conveys the impression of a late Gothic church, while the interior is primarily Baroque and Rococo. Since 1934, a memorial chapel for Ernst Rietschel has been located on the south side of the church.

Gottfried Tobias Thomas founded the first pure gingerbread bakery in 1743 on what is now Julius-Kühn-Platz. After several generations, Herbert Beyer was the last, from 1931 to 1972. With him, the tradition ended after 229 years in this house. Today, the Harlekin is located on this site, with a café, bar, guesthouse and cozy beer garden. Gingerbread still finds its customers today - as in other restaurants in the city. A memorial plaque and award medals on the facade commemorate the historic old Thomas gingerbread bakery. Ernst Rietschel, born on December 15, 1804 in Pulsnitz, was one of the most important sculptors of the 19th century and founder of the Dresden School of Sculpture. His most famous works are the Luther monument in Worms, the Lessing statue in Braunschweig and the double portrait of Goethe and Schiller in Weimar. The house where he was born is in Pulsnitz and has been used as a gallery by the Ernst Rietschel Cultural Association since 2000. The association shows around six exhibitions of fine art every year. In addition to the gallery, the house where he was born is home to the Walter Nessler Foundation with more than a thousand works of art.
