800 years of Kamenz, a beautiful city festival.

The 32-meter-high Red Tower, a former defense and watchtower, is a remnant of the Pulsnitz city gate and has 117 steps. As the name suggests, this street leads to the town of Pulsnitz, 12 km away. City gates were particularly vulnerable in times of war. Therefore, the defenders attempted to protect them with additional walls and towers. In an emergency, many archers could take up positions on it. The tower also served as a municipal prison for the higher ranks. The city bailiffs imprisoned criminals from the lower classes in the town hall prison. The four-aisled St. Mary's Church is one of the most important late Gothic hall churches in Saxony. Construction began around 1400 and was completed around 1480. It boasts rich furnishings of high artistic quality, including the St. Mary's Altar (1519), St. Michael's Altar (1498), and the pulpit (1564) by the Kamenz painter Andreas Dreßler. To the west of the city, the Hutberg rises about 100 meters above the old town, 294 meters above sea level. The name of the mountain is not derived from the hat, but from the herding of sheep. The distance column from the former Königsbrück Gate, dating from 1725, found a new location at Bönischplatz after several renovations and was last restored in 2008. It was destroyed in a traffic accident at the local roundabout on 30 September 2009 and re-erected on 6 May 2010.

Very beautiful church with a great interior. The cemetery and the view over the wall are worth mentioning.
