The Meuse Canal is not perfectly straight like many French canals from the 19th century.

Commercy is one of the most beautiful detours in France. The town owes its fame to its madeleine (a French church) and its Stanislas Castle. Wandering its streets is a chance to discover 18th-century architecture. A short break here is an opportunity to discover a piece of the history of the Meuse while enjoying a pleasant setting before heading back out onto the surrounding roads and trails.

Footbridge over the Marne-Rhine canal with a lovely view of the port of Void and the village. This small village center is home to a beautiful castle and offers good dining options.

The Marne-Rhine canal, also called the Meuse canal, is very pretty on the outskirts of the town of Commercy.

Rails were laid along the canal at the beginning of the 20th century in order to be able to pull ships along the canal with a locomotive. Until then, people or animals took over. Next to the bridge you will find an information board and a little further on an old locomotive.

A very nice path along the canal, which is great fun for cyclists.
