They were installed from 1876 to 1902 on the initiative of the Duke of Aumale, the Count of Paris and the Count Gaston of Orléans, successive owners of the Eu forest. The poles of the Eu forest are also unique: generally made of wood in other forests, here they have the particularity of being made of cast iron and each weigh several tonnes.
