Arlempdes Castle is the first fortress built on the banks of the Loire. Built on a rocky peak, this 13th century construction is a jewel of Velay. The castle has been included on the list of historic monuments since 1926. During the summer, it is possible to visit it through ASACHAR (Association for the Protection and Animation of Arlempdes Castle).

path is easy to follow, this is a large track. the last part in the upper section is a steep path with log stairs, but this is suitable even for kids (maybe with some help for the younger, some stairs are 40cm high) at the top you get an orientation table with a great view on the mounts of ardeche (heading east). on the path, you can find savage raspberries, which is always nice to pick and eat while hiking.
