High atop Pinnerberg Mountain stands the Pinner Cross, a vantage point offering a magnificent view of the Moselle Valley. Its name comes from a shepherd who, while saving one of his lost animals from a fall, lost his life in the process. The cross was erected in his memory. The view of the town of Cochem with its Reichsburg Castle and the entire Moselle loop is impressive.

St. Martin's Church, Ediger-Eller The branch chapel of the Eller parish church, dedicated to St. Hilarius's pupil "Martin of Tours," became the parish church of "St. Martin" of Ediger in 1142. Romanesque remains and Gothic completion (around 1506) present themselves in the beauty visible today. A picturesque gallery connects the choir side with the church gate of the city wall, built in 1363. To the west rises the over 50 m high bell tower, an outstanding example of late Gothic design. The octagonal spire is the most richly decorated Gothic slate church spire in Christendom. The climb begins steeply along the Moselle before the path continues straight up. The slope is south-facing, so it can get quite warm there. Just before you leave the village, there's a fountain where you can refresh yourself. Further up, you'll enjoy a magnificent view.

A Romanesque predecessor building existed before 1097. The foundations of this have been preserved, as has the choir with its north wall. The baptismal font in what is now the southern aisle also dates from the Romanesque period. St. Martin's was initially a branch church and was then elevated to a parish church in 1142. It was probably extensively remodeled and expanded into a two-aisled Gothic hall church in the 15th century. In the 16th century, an older chapel on the north side of the choir was also expanded. From 1951 to 1953, the church was extended to the north, with the old tracery windows being inserted into the new walls. St. Martin's was extensively renovated in 1970 and 1974 (Wikipedia).

The down hill over the road is about 3k and is around 12%. It has a few narrow technical hairpins. On the start of the descent there are signs which say ‘cyclists not allowed ‘. We did the descent because we had no choice due to our route (sorry to the locals for that).
