St. Lambertus Basilica - Bechtheim🚴‍♂️ Driving through the center of Bechtheim past the market square, this old, historic building is impossible to miss. You can also refill your water supply here...🚴‍♂️ The 11th-century basilica, dedicated to St. Lambertus of Liège (635-700), was formerly owned by the Augustinian Canons on the Aegidienberg in Liège. Special features of the three-aisled hall church include the choir platform and tunnel crypt (barrel vault), as well as 14th-century wall paintings. In the Middle Ages, it was a pilgrimage church, and from 1684 to 1910, the building was used as a combined church. The basilica was long used as a simultaneous church

Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the premises (as expected). So could only look at the basilica from the gate, but looked good so far. 🤷‍♀️

Very nice to look at from the outskirts. But we were on the Luther Trail and saved the detour. It was also more than 30 km.

If you come from the south on the RheinTerrassenWeg, you have a beautiful view of Bechtheim.

A particularly interesting designed vineyard house near Osthofen.

Such a magnificent church is something special for a village. The Romanesque basilica is newly renovated and I found it open.
