The current property only became documented in the 17th century, when the Brandenburg customs inspector Christoffel Rickers (also Ryckers) acquired the estate in 1678 and had a country house built on its site two years later. It was a one-story building with brickwork, in the middle of which there was a small tower with a baroque dome. Christoffel's daughter Catharina became Frederick I's mistress after she married Count von Wartenberg. Katharina inherited the property when her father died in 1690 and subsequently had it managed by her cousin Johann.
