Tingvalla Church in Karlstad is the oldest church in the city and has a long history. The church was originally built in the Middle Ages and its name "Tingvalla" comes from the old meeting place ("ting") that was located there. However, the church has been rebuilt and expanded several times over the centuries, mainly due to destruction from fires that have plagued Karlstad. Today, Tingvalla Church stands as a striking witness to Karlstad's medieval history, although in its current form it is mainly from later periods. It has a plain façade, typical of Scandinavian churches, and the interior is also rather plain, but it has a calm, spiritual atmosphere. The church continues to serve as a place for worship and events and has important historical and cultural value for the local community. If you are visiting Karlstad and are interested in the history of the city, you should visit the church.

Karlstad is conveniently located between Oslo, Stockholm and Gothenburg. Located on the shores of Lake Vänern, the city and its region enjoy a fairly sunny climate. The city has an important commercial port making it Sweden's third economic port. The city is now turning to new technologies. It was almost completely destroyed in 1865 by a terrible fire which left only a few buildings. This explains the large avenues and the many buildings dating from the time of its reconstruction. You will find many works of art including the Sola statue, one of the symbols of the city.

From here, several circular hiking trails lead through the nature reserve. “The reserve is a freshwater archipelago with many different types of environments. There are bare rocky beaches, sandy beaches suitable for swimming and shallow bays overgrown with reeds. The views can be breathtaking and it is not uncommon to see the white-tailed eagle fly by with prey in its talons. The Segerstad area is part of the Segerstad Archipelago Nature Reserve. The area, which is a peninsula, is the only part of the nature reserve that can be reached without a boat. There are hiking trails in the area that are accessible to everyone.” Information from the nature conservation authority

Beautiful area. Start of several marked hikes ranging from 2.5km to 10km. Very few elevation changes and very accessible even for families / strollers. Possibility to have a coffee, tea and some pastries in the small cafe. Very nice place to hike, spend time with family. BBQ...

The lighthouse is unfortunately on private property, but has an excellent view from the surrounding shore.
