Next to the hut you will also find a fire pit.

This is a great place for a break with a view over the lake.

In the 1800s, Katariinantori or 'Catherine Square' was a training ground and a parade field for soldiers. The wooden barracks and garrison hospital were built around the square in the late 1800s. The red stone building on the east side of the square is one of the oldest in the Fortress. It was built as the residence and office of the Garrison Commander circa 1770. A building known as the Radio House in the northeast corner of the square was erected in 1972.

The Lappeenranta Art Museum features works by Sinikka Kurkinen and Veijo Rönkkönen. Opening hours Mon-Fri 10am-6pm and Sat-Sun 11am-5pm
