The canal flows from the Inselsee towards Güstrow. From the weir next to the fisherman's house near the road bridge it becomes the Mühlbach. It then flows past the former mill to the castle moat, then continues as a town moat to the rose garden and flows into the Nebel there!

We were completely enchanted. You turn and suddenly this beautiful old chestnut avenue opens up in front of you. In spring, when the chestnuts start to bloom, it will definitely look great too.

Güstrow Cathedral is part of the North German brick Gothic style and has a rich interior from the late Romanesque period to the modern era, including Ernst Barlach's Floating Man. It is spread out on the southern edge of the city and exudes a great sense of calm. The cathedral square is a special ensemble in the city. Here is the oldest school in Mecklenburg, the former court of Wallenstein, and within sight we find the Renaissance castle. The cathedral was founded in 1226 and consecrated in 1335. In 1568 it became the Protestant court church and burial place for the Güstrow royal family until 1695, when the Güstrow line died out. The Krakower Obersee is a nationally known nature reserve of national and international importance and has been closed to all boat traffic since the mid-1970s due to its abundance of water birds. Its eight Werder rivers are breeding grounds for numerous species of songbirds and waterfowl.
