The section of the Müritz Cycle Route between Vipperow and Ludorf leads through a peaceful, expansive cultural landscape on the southwest shore of Lake Müritz. Starting in Vipperow, the route mostly follows flat paths through fields and small rows of trees toward Ludorf. This section is easy to ride, with hardly any inclines, and is ideal for a relaxed tour with short breaks.

The market fountain in Röbel was built in 2010 as part of the redesign of the market square and now forms a modern focal point between the town hall and St. Nicholas Church. The cylindrical stainless steel fountain with a central water jet flows into a round granite basin, creating a refreshing atmosphere, especially on warm days. Despite its contemporary design, it blends harmoniously into the historic townscape and is a popular meeting place for locals and visitors alike, inviting them to linger and serving as a starting point for exploring the old town.

A short detour to the church in Vipperow is worthwhile: This fieldstone building, dating from around 1300, is one of the oldest in the Müritz region. Particularly noteworthy are the late Gothic carved altar, exposed wall paintings depicting scenes from the Last Judgment, and the charming half-timbered tower. The church is quietly located in the village and today also serves as an event venue—an ideal stopover for culture-loving cyclists.

This viewing platform on the cycle path in the Großer Schwerin nature reserve with Steinhorn mountain offers a view over the hedges, with the shore very close. The view of the cycle paths from above is also interesting.

Beautiful landscape

A detour to Röbel's historic old town is a worthwhile stop on any bike tour around Lake Müritz. This charming little town boasts lovingly restored half-timbered houses, narrow streets, and two imposing churches – St. Mary's Church and St. Nicholas' Church – that dominate the townscape. Benches along the waterfront promenade invite you to linger, while small cafés and ice cream parlors offer a pleasant break. The market square with its fountain and the idyllic courtyards exude rural charm and tell of Röbel's long history as a farming town. Ideal for a short break with cultural flair – quiet, authentic, and bike-friendly.

The "Old Synagogue" in Röbel was built in 1831 and is one of the few remaining half-timbered synagogues in Mecklenburg. It was built at a time when the town's Jewish community numbered around 100 members and served as a religious center for many decades. After the First World War, the number of members declined sharply, and the synagogue was sold in 1936. Subsequently, the building was used as a workshop and garage, thus saving it from destruction during the Nazi era. After years of decay, the synagogue was extensively restored between 2001 and 2003. Today, it is part of a youth education center and houses an exhibition on Jewish history in the region—a quiet place of remembrance and encounter.
