It is rare in Finland to find public bike paths that run directly along the sea like this one. This section is therefore highly recommended.

At the Gallen-Kallela Museum, you will be surrounded by the art of Akseli Gallen-Kallela in the unique cultural environment of Tarvaspää. In the changing exhibitions the museum tells the story of one of Finnlands most important artists, his life and family, not forgetting contemporary art. Right beside the museum is a beautiful café with a nice view over the sea, which in summer expands into our museum garden. Akseli Gallen-Kallela (26 April 1865 – 7 March 1931) was a Finnish painter who is best known for his illustrations of the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic. His work is considered a very important aspect of the Finnish national identity. Museum is open during the summer season everyday from 11 am to 6 pm and on Wednesdays from 11 am to 8 pm. https://gallen-kallela.fi/ Admission 12 € adults 7 € pensioners 5 € students, unemployed Free entry for under 18 year old. Laajalahti Nature Reserve is the best bird watching area in southern Finland. The area protects a shallow bay and is important for numerous breeding birds and thousands of birds that stop over during their migration. In addition, the Laajalahti nature reserve is a great recreational area with nature trails, viewpoints and educational tours (bird and bat watching) and the Villa Elfvik nature house. You will find there several nature trails along the Villa Elfvik. You can choose from 700m, 800m, and 1,3km trails or head to a 2,9km long trail connecting Laajalahti with Otaniemi district. If you are looking for a longer hike, you can start by the Gallen-Kallela Museum and continue along the sea following the 40km long Espoo Waterfront Walkway. The shortest 700m trail is also accessible with wheelchairs and strollers, as well as entering the Nature House Villa Elfvik.

Sinebrychoff's villa was built in 1892 and is a magnificent Renaissance-style villa. It stands on Björnholm, called Karhusaari in Finnish, which is today a northeastern part of Westend, which is largely covered by the Länsiväylä highway that runs north of the art center. Björnholma was separated from the Sinebrychoff family's Hagalund mansion in 1890 for use by Nicolas Sinebrychoff. The villa was designed by the architect Karl August Wrede. He had returned from Italy at the time and the Italian influence in the villa's design is clearly visible. The villa has a special flat roof with wide eaves. The villa was once also a small farm with outbuildings, some of which still remain. Some of the buildings, such as the pier with its dressing room, were demolished when Länsiväylä was built. The villa's interior also represents the Neo-Renaissance. The ceiling paintings, the panels and the tiled stove are artfully crafted.
