On the way from Rigi Stafel to Rigi Kulm, there are always beautiful views of Lake Lucerne, and on the other side also of Lake Zug, Lake Sempach, and partly also Lake Hallwil and Lake Baldegg.

On the alpine pasture above the village of Vitznau, heavy rain has caused the mountainside to move. For four months, excavators have been deployed in the Hinterbergen area to stabilize the landslide. A serious emergency: Up to 400,000 cubic meters of earth and debris have been dislodged. This is a mass comparable to the volume of Switzerland's tallest skyscraper, the Roche Tower in Basel. Drainage and dams are being constructed to prevent the landslide from liquefying and flowing into the village. Twenty people have been forced to temporarily leave their farms.
