The national monument De Helper is a polder mill on the eastern shore of the Paterswoldsemeer lake in the municipality of Haren, province of Groningen, in the hamlet of Nijveensterkolk. Here you can enjoy a lovely walk along the Paterswoldse Meer.

Only dolmen that can still be found "in the wild" in the province of Groningen. The most Northern dolmen on the Hondsrug. Slightly more South, in Midlaren, are D3 and D4 in Drenthe. Both along the Pieterpad.

Idyllic lock on a beautiful winding path over the dike. Favorite route from Groningen to Drenthe. Beautiful views when the sun is low.

This is one of two dolmens in Groningen. The other one is in a museum in Delfzijl.

Beautiful lookout tower over the Zuidlaardermeer. You can go there by boat or by bike or on foot and enjoy the great view. You can also picnic on the jetty!
