Museum Vaals (De Zwarte Madonna) This is probably the most famous museum in Vaals, housed in the monumental monastery chapel of the former Camillian monastery 'De Esch'. What to see: An overwhelming collection of more than 200 statues of saints (some up to 3.5 meters tall) and religious folk art. The combination with changing exhibitions of modern art makes it a special place. The atmosphere: The chapel has been transformed into a 'colorful diorama'. In the accompanying museum café, De Zwarte Madonna, you sit on old church chairs, and the bar is even made from antique altars. Location: Eschberg 7, Vaals. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
