Air War Museum Fort Veldhuis The museum is located in the Fort near Veldhuis, one of the 45 forts that together form the Defence Line of Amsterdam. The entire fort contains an exhibition with objects related to the Second World War. A special part of the collection consists of aircraft parts excavated by the Aircraft Recovery Group 1940-1945 foundation. This foundation provides knowledge about the air war and the deployment of the various air forces during that period. The foundation also conducts research into missing aircraft and crew members in order to preserve the memory of those who lost their lives during this period, including civilian victims.

The mill was built in or shortly after 1651 for the drainage of the polder 't Woud, which was constructed at that time. This polder bordered the Krommenieër polder to the south. In 1948, both polders were merged into the current Krommenieër-Woudpolder. The mill was screwed in 1864. In 1951, an electric motor was installed so that the screw could be driven by both wind power and electricity. In 2008, an electric pumping station was installed next to the mill. During a restoration planned for 2008/2009, the motor will be removed.

In 1610, Karel van Arenberg sold the castle to Daniël de Hertaing, lord of Marquette-en-Ostrevant, who was married to Eleonora de Hennin, the sister of the late Count of Bossu. He was given permission to give the property the name Marquette. From 1717 to 1909, the house was owned by the Rendorp family, after which it passed through marriage in 1855 to the Gevers family, who owned it until 1980. They would only use this residence as a country house. Between 1730 and 1760, the castle was completely renovated and given an 18th-century appearance. • Joachim Rendorp was the owner during the second half of the 18th century. Over time, the castle underwent the necessary transformations by the various owners through demolition and extension. In 1742, according to the date above the front door, and 1828 the castle was radically changed and given its current appearance. A large part of the special interior of Assumburg Castle was transferred to Marquette at the end of the 19th century. During the Second World War, Marquette Castle was used as a weather station by the German occupation. The castle was shelled a few times by the Allies, which caused considerable damage to the roof of the castle. The last owner, jhr. Gevers van Marquette, transferred the estate to the Heemskerk water company PWN in 1980. It was then restored and made suitable as a conference centre. A hotel was also built on the estate during this period. The castle was then extensively restored by various owners to prevent further decay of the castle and the estate.
